We only use electricity from 100% renewable sources. We try to save electricity by turning off lights when not in use, and our retail scales go to sleep if they haven't seen anyone in a while! We also don't have any heating/air con in the shop - that's why we are always wrapped up.
Approximately 75% of our produce is delivered in paper/cardboard. 20% is on a circular loop (suppliers take back, clean out and reuse packaging) and 5% is plastic. We sort all of our waste and ensure plastic is recycled through Suez. We try to reuse cardboard, either by sending out orders in reused packaging, donating to others to use or as a mulch/cover for our veggie plot.
Virtually none! If it's past it's best before we will reduce it, then use it ourselves if it still hasn't sold. If it's coming up to best before we will try to donate it to the soup kitchen. Fresh produce (cakes, pastries & bread) never goes to waste, but we would prefer to sell it so pop along close to closing on Fri & Sat. Any spillages on the floor goes to our wormery to help make compost.
